This is just a word of warning should you decide to book a holiday with TUI Thomson and fall for the ‘sit together’ option for which they charge you an extra £17.00

Unless you choose a window seat and a middle seat you will not be able to sit together.

I fly out about 10 times a year and I always ask for an aisle seat and a middle seat as it is easier to get up and about without disturbing your fellow passengers and I never had a problem getting these seats.

When I booked my last holiday to La Palma I paid Thomson the £34.00 to make sure to get an aisle and middle seat only to find out that this was not possible.

The computerised system flashed up a message that a window seat cannot be left empty which, in the end, forced me to pick two aisle seats instead, which I would not call sitting together.

I even did try to change the seats upon check-in in Manchester but was told the same.

Strangely enough somebody else told me that they tried to book a single seat on a Monarch flight and were refused the window seat for a similar reason which, to me, does not make much sense.

So here we are, don’t waste your money to pre-book your seat as all you will be allowed to choose is the window seat and the middle seat if you want to sit together which you will always get anyway unless the plane is fully booked and you are one of the last people to check in.
