I am sure that most of you have been made aware recently by the Media that Thomas Cook is in serious financial trouble having amassed millions of debts.

 

True, they have been thrown a lifeline by the banks which have extended their credit facilities and given them another 100 million Pound but it is doubtful that this will save Thomas Cook who have lost 398 million Pound in the last 12 month alone.

 

So what should you do now?

 

Anyone booking a package holiday with Thomas Cook is protected under the Atol scheme but those with flight-only bookings will not be covered and are being advised to take out suitable travel insurance.

 

But is that enough to safeguard your holiday?

 

Even if you money is safe, you might find yourself without a holiday next year and if you have to make alternative arrangements at the last minute at the height of the season then you may find that you are paying through the nose when you want to go away.

 

At present they are offering you hundreds  of Pounds of your next year’s holiday and are telling you to Thomas Cook it when it would be more appropriate to say

 

Don’t Thomas Cook it – go elsewhere to book it

 

In addition to all the financial problems of Thomas Cook and their associated companies they have just been voted the UK’s worst airline and, as far as I am concerned, the worst travel agent I have ever come across.

 

They done nothing to help or assist me when I booked a cruise with them and I most certainly will not touch this company again in my entire life.

 

Former chief executive Manny Fontenla-Novoa left abruptly in August when he realised that the ship is sinking, shares have lost nearly 90% if it’s former value – so only fools and gamblers would take the risk to entrust your money in this company.

 

Why gamble and take the risk when it is far easier and far safer to book your next year’s holiday with a tour operator who is safe, such as Thomson etc.

 

Play it safe and
