NEGATIVE
Feedback
RESPONSE

This is the true story about an e-bayer who calls himself

‘paul291100’

He has just left me a negative feedback in which he claims that I have ripped him off on postage and that I have not communicated with him, but let’s have a look at the actual  feedback and take it from there:

RIP OFF ON POSTAGE - SUGGESTED REDRESS - NO JOY - NO CONTACT BAD EBAYER ****BAD

Yes, he did send me an e-mail in which he demanded that I pay him back £2.00 for what he considered excessive postage, failing this he would leave a negative feedback and here is the exact e-mail he sent me:

Thanks for the excellent plate bought by me on ebay last week. The plate arrived in good condition and was as described.

According to the packaging the postage for this item was £1.14. Why then was I charged £3.95. ?

I know I bought the plate at a knock down price, but that does not really give anyone the right to make up extra money on the postage.

As you can see from my account, I have always tried to get it right but sometimes I know it is difficult. I accept that it was a genuine mistake in calculating the postage and will accept £2 credited to my paypal account by way of compensation..This will need to be done within the next 3 days otherwise I will leave negative feedback

I replied to this e-mail virtually immediately and told him as follows:

Thanks for your e-mail and your threat to leave a negative feedback if I don’t refund you £2.00 against the postage & packing charge.

I would like to point out that I always charge £ 3.95 for a plate as I have to go out of my way to pack it well to ensure that it survives the journey. This charge is not only for postage but also for packaging. The charge of £ 3.95 is clearly stated on my auction page and forms part of the agreement. It is not an amount I made up afterwards and you clearly were fully aware of this charge before you entered your bid.

So sorry, I will not be refunding you with £2.00 but, if you so prefer, you can return the plate to me in its original packaging and I will cancel the sale and refund you with the full purchase price as I will have no problem finding another buyer, bearing in mind that all you paid me for that plate was 32p.

And as for your blackmail of leaving a negative feedback, this is fine by me and obviously I will do likewise.

As you can see from that exchange of e-mails I did reply immediately, I explained that the charge of £ 3.95 was for postage & packing and that I would not be blackmailed by anyone.  I take great pride in my packaging, it takes me the best part of 30 minutes to construct a box for a plate, I go out of my way to purchase specialist packaging such a bubble wrap, I seal all my boxes properly with parcel tape, I print an address label and I attach stickers saying ‘ FRAGILE – PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE’, something paul291100 obviously does not understand as some of his own feedbacks he received clearly show that, for example

Shame that book arrived damaged in the post ………………. or

or

useless packaging-cover now(?) heavily creased in corners+sent 2nd class not 1st

So, if in a glasshouse don’t throw stones.

Of course, I could have just wrapped the plate he just bought from me for 32p in brown paper and stuck a stamp on it and told him that the risk for consequent damage had passed to him, but that may be his style, not mine.

But let me continue the story-

He completely ignored my e-mail and sent me another request from Paypal demanding my acceptance to pay him £2.00. Needless to say I did not, but I did respond and sent him yet another e-mail with a copy of the previous e-mail, but as my patience was wearing thin now, I did withdraw my offer of cancelling the sale and accepting the plate back for a full refund, which I had made earlier.

Just in case you did not understand my reply to your e-mail I am sending it herewith once again, but please note that I am now no longer prepared to cancel the sale -

By all means leave a negative feedback  - it will be my pleasure to do the same and I will also publish the full story on my website.

So here it is – he left me a negative feedback and I kept my word – this is the full and true story of an ebayer who calls himself

paul291100

His feedback is not quite the truth – but I leave that for you to decide whom you should trust –

I have nothing to hide –

I quoted my postage & packing charge on my website –

I have never had any breakages and I will always reply to emails, may they be negative or positive.

By all means criticise me if I mislead you, but please refrain from crude blackmail after the completion of the sale, it does not work, it is dishonourable, it is wrong and it is unethical.

I do not give in to blackmail and I will never lie or deliberately go out of my way to discredit or harm the reputation of other honest ebayer’s but I will do everything in my power to expose the people who do.

I have made sure that this ebayer never buys from me again –

I have blacklisted him and I suggest you do likewise, you might save yourself a lot of aggravation and exasperation
