On the 4th September 2002 we missed our departure to Alicante
due to a horrendous accident on the M6 which blocked both lanes of the
motorway and trapped us for over 5 hours. When we realised that we would
miss the departure I phoned Direct Holidays and they arranged for
an alternative departure from the East Midlands Airport instead of
Manchester on the following day at an additional cost of £60.00 each.
I also contacted Park & Go with whom I had pre booked and pre paid my
parking at Manchester airport.
They were very understanding and initially offered to change the
arrangement at no extra charge to the East Midlands Airport. When I
explained that I would no longer require any parking as my outbound
flight would be from the East Midlands Airport, but my return flight
would bring me back to Manchester they immediately offered to refund the
parking charges, deducting a £5.00 cancellation fee, which I found to be
acceptable and satisfactory.
