This is not a complaint, but a helpful tip that I found over Christmas this year.

My partner has just had a baby and her size is continually changing as a result. Foe Christmas this year I bought her a selection of new clothes from Debenhams, Marks and Spencer, and Monsoon.

Unfortunately some of these didn’t fit, and needed to be exchanged, so come January we went into town to change the items for the right size.

I was amazed to find, that where the items were now in a store sale, the shop assistant, not only changed the products over, but issued me with a refund for the difference between the original price and the sale price.

I would have been happy just to change them.

However I have learned a valuable lesson here. If you are buying for Christmas and are not sure of the size, then make sure you get it wrong, as you could save as a result.

I should also mention, that I am not so heartless as to keep the savings. They were eaten up (literally) as my partner and I enjoyed an after Christmas meal out at a restaurant we could not normally afford.

Hope this is useful to somebody

A note from the editor

My wife returned a jumper she bought my son for Christmas to Burton’s during the Sales in January  and she came back with the exchanged item and an extra £6.00,  so it’s most definitely worth taking up Simon’s suggestion. Beat them at their own game as they most probably inflated the prices before Christmas to allow them to sell them cheaper in the Sales.
