On Friday 30th January 2004 I purchased a Bathroom Sink Cupboard for £18.99, from Lidl at Middlewich in Cheshire.
As their was not one of these on display, I bought it any way not knowing if it would be suitable or not. I naturally assumed that I could return it if it was not suitable.
Having assembled the cupboard we found that it would not fit either of my bathroom sinks. I then took it to my parents home where I found it would not fit either of theirs. All four of these sinks are different styles and sizes.
This cupboard could not possibly do the job that it was advertised for. The illustration on the box shows that it fits completely underneath the sink, this is impossible because it has a back in it therefore it is impossible to push it into place.
On Monday 2nd February I returned to the same store with the original receipt and item back in its box. I could not believe it when I was told that I could NOT have a refund. I asked the Manager to show me a Customer Notice which gave their 'Company Policy on Returned Items' he replied "not got one and don't need one!" his manner was most offensive.
I could not even give this cupboard away to anyone because it could not do the job it was intended!
I left in utter disbelieve, as I have never heard of any company refusing a refund or at least offering a credit note.
Please can you help me to get a refund for this useless cupboard, I was so pleased when I found your web-site.

Lidl, as usual reacted very quickly and Mrs. Grey has now sent us the following e-mail
Today (10.02.04) I received a letter from the Lidl Head Office, stating that I could return my Bathroom Sink Cupboard to the Middlewich Store. I have now done so and received a full refund of £18.99 for the unsuitable cupboard.
