I purchased a Targa Visionary computer from Lidl Costing £899.
When I tried to connect to the Internet, my phone line hung up as the modem was faulty.
That was replaced by another new modem sent from Germany which was also faulty, eventually the second replacement worked.
At the same time that I was having problems with the modem, I could not burn video onto a DVD the message stated "unknown error".
Various phone calls to the Targa helpdesk and E-mails to the Pinnacle software team in Germany did not resolve the problem,  hence a small fortune in wasted blank DVD's.
I have telephoned the Lidl helpline four times; the girls in the call centre are very pleasant but they are not located at Lidl HQ and have to pass on any complaint by internal e-mail.
The messages to London meet with neither an acknowledgement or response; a registered letter has also been ignored and I am left feeling angry and frustrated.
I have spent hours trying to resolve the unknown error.
Do not buy anything technical from Lidl, my argument is the product should have worked from day one and was supplied as unfit for purpose and should be entitled to a refund and compensation.


As usual we contacted Lidl in London on behalf of Mr. Ramsay but have to confess that we had not much success initially. It took us several attempts to get a reply,  but finally, after they had told us they could not trace any correspondence from Mr. Ramsay, they came back and told us that they had now passed the matter to their Non Food Department which is taking the matter to their suppliers.
Nearly two month after our first approach they have now been in touch with Mr. Ramsay who has now sent us the following e-mail:
 
I have at last heard from Lidl and they have offered a refund.
Why Lidl took so long to acknowledge my existence God only knows, you would have thought that they would have made an initial contact saying they were looking into the matter.
