I have
lived in Stourbridge for the best part of twenty-five years and it is not
until now, having moved into my first home that I feel compelled to make a
complaint.
I moved
to my current address, that is, 11 Hadcroft Road, nearly three years ago
and have been consistently dissatisfied with the high level of litter and
general cleanliness of the road.
I am
aware that Hadcroft Road is on the border of a council estate and that
some of the properties in the road are still council owned. However I do
not see this as an excuse for the dirty and sometimes unsafe state of the
pavements. I note that this untidiness is not simply limited to the
pavements but is also reflected in the front gardens of the council owned
properties at the start of the road. Not only does this look disgusting
for onlookers into the otherwise pleasant street but also it is inevitably
reducing the value of the houses owned by residents who genuinely care
about their property.
A also
draw your attention to the state of the ‘confused space’, which is
situated at the closed end of the road, adjacent to the passageway. I am
assuming that this piece of land is owned by the council, which would
surely suggest that the onus for keeping this area lies with the local
council.
Other
than the unsightly appearance of this area, I am a little concerned about
the potential hazards that this area poses to the young children who us
the passageway every day on their journey to school.
I would
like to know if anything will be done to improve this area or whether any
bins will be provided to alleviate the litter problem. It is not my
intention to appear unreasonable in my complaint and I am aware that there
are of course many other areas with greater environmental problems,
however I feel that as a resident of Stourbridge I should make an effort
to improve the area.
Thank
you in anticipation |

Update:03/02/2004
As we never heard
from Mr. Dunnington again we have to assume that he had a favourably
from Dudley Council and that his street has now been cleared up.
